The Ledger — Terms

Plain language. Read it.

Last updated: 23 April 2026

These terms govern your use of The Ledger, a web application operated by The Ledger ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the app.

1. What The Ledger is

The Ledger is a personal productivity tool: an inbox for capturing thoughts, a task manager organised around projects, a daily ritual, a calendar, notes, and an Eisenhower matrix called The Matrix. It's built for one person at a time — not a team tool.

2. Your account

3. Your data is yours

Everything you put into The Ledger — tasks, notes, journal entries, projects — belongs to you. We don't sell it, we don't advertise against it, we don't train AI on it. We store it so you can access it across your devices.

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules. We'll give you a heads-up first unless the violation is egregious.

5. Beta status & availability

The Ledger is in public beta. That means:

6. Paid plans

The Free plan is free forever for personal use. Paid plans (currently Pro at $5/month or $4/month when billed annually) are processed via Lemon Squeezy. By subscribing you agree to Lemon Squeezy's terms in addition to these.

7. Intellectual property

The app, its design, its copy, and its codebase are owned by us. Your content belongs to you. If you give us feedback, we may use it to improve the product — no obligation to credit or compensate, though we often will if feedback is substantial.

8. Disclaimers

The Ledger is provided "as is." We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use it for personal productivity — not for storing mission-critical information without independent backups.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to The Ledger is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $50. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including data loss beyond what our backup practices can reasonably recover.

10. Changes to these terms

We'll post updates here and bump the "Last updated" date. Material changes (pricing, data handling, account termination rules) will be emailed to signed-in users at least 14 days before taking effect.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes go to the courts of Mumbai.

12. Contact

Questions, complaints, or corrections: jaiveer@the-ledger-app.com. We aim to reply within a few business days.
